METCO IOT applications - the opportunities and challenges

Middle East Telecommunications Company- METCO, a leading System Integrator in the MEA region, was the official keynote sponsor of the 2nd Future Cities Summit-Kuwait took place on 10th – 11th March 2019 at the Millennium Hotel, Kuwait. The theme of the summit was “Transforming Kuwait’s Cities into Secure & Digital Sustainable Cities”; and over multiple sessions discussing insights from different government institutions and private organizations on how to enable the core systems such as transport systems, government services, education, public safety and healthcare of the future cities of the world; which are in line with the Kuwait government’s vision of “Kuwait 2035 – which includes building nine smart cities”.

In METCO’s keynote session on “IoT for Healthcare and Transportation”, MECTO’s Regional Solution Manager, Mohammad Al Khateeb discussed the IoT ecosystem and the expected influence it is likely to have on our daily lives, especially in the field of healthcare and transportation. He reviewed several case studies that show the positive impact of adopting IoT in these sectors and spoke about the challenges of security, privacy and providing stable connectivity for thousands of connected devices, and how METCO’s expertise could support the public and private sectors in their endeavor of building and developing smart cities with utmost security and efficiency.
